Winterberg with its approximately 12,650 inhabitants is located in the heights of the Rothaargebirge in North Rhine-Westphalia. But the quiet little city offers much more than the expected small-town flair: Winterberg is considered to be the sports stronghold in NRW – and not only in winter!
In addition, the "Winterberg-Hallenberg Holiday Region" has achieved international fame with 1.2 million overnight stays and almost 2 million day visitors every year. Winterberg has made its name as a winter sports destination. In the winter months, it offers 27.5 kilometers of downhill tracks thanks to 360 snow machines and 26 ultra-modern ski-lifts. It is also the venue for World Cup bobsleigh and luge races.
In summer, the adventure mountain Kappe offers its large bike park as well as a variety of other recreational opportunities. In the surrounding area 700 kilometers of prepared mountain bike trails are waiting. The magnificent nature of Rothaarsteig with countless kilometers of well-maintained walking and biking trails attracts both hiking enthusiasts as well as health-conscious guests.

Winterberg also offers a lot in terms of architecture and culinary delights: The typical Sauerland timber-framed houses can be found here as well as a wide range of restaurants from steak, pasta, potato and pancake houses along with dignified star cuisine and international specialties (Asian, Indian, American, Greek, Italian and many more) to the party mile "Am Waltenberg" with "Dorf-Alm" and Irish pub. Those who like to stroll and go shopping will certainly use the pedestrian precinct in the city center with its small boutiques and stores.

The ski lift carousel is – contrary to what its name might suggest – much more than "just" the winter sports center of Winterberg. Rather, it presents two very different faces – depending on the season. In terms of "attractiveness", however, neither has to hide from the other: In winter, Germany's most modern ski resort welcomes its guests; in summer, action and adrenaline are waiting! Located directly at our holiday suite "Kappe Deluxe", the adventure mountain Kappe presents an all-embracing leisure program – in summer as well as in winter. It is also home to the Bike Park, which also offers numerous international mountain bike events. In winter, the east side of the Kappe becomes the steepest downhill slope north of the Alps. It is also home of VELTINS EisArena, one of the fastest artificial ice tracks in the world. In 2024, the IBSF Bob & Skeleton World Championships will be hosted here.
